The classic safari runs twice a day, by jeep or minibus, early in the morning and just before the sunset - when the animals are most active.
Your safari guide driver will take you to different areas inside the game reserve, following tracks along the meandering Talek river in search of lions, crossing the many vast grass plains scouting for giraffes or elephants or ascending the Ngama hills hoping to spot a rhino. Be amazed by the diversity of the Masai Mara ecosystem. Welcome to the classic safari!
A typical day on safari - game drive
You start your day waking up before sunrise to the sound of the chanting birds. Morning tea or coffee by the light of a kerosene lamp. Head for the savannah as the sun rises. A morning safari lasts two to three hours before you return to camp for a full breakfast of fruits, fresh bread, eggs and bacon. Relax in camp, lounge in a hammock or watch the birds from our viewing tower. Welcome to try any of the other activities that Basecamp offers. Enjoy lunch in the open air restaurant, or under a Figtree. Feel the excitement as you proceed out on the late afternoon game drive. End your safari adventure for the day with a drink as the sun sets in the horizon. After dark, sit for a three meal dinner and listen to story telling around the campfire.
Night game drive
Experience Masai Mara’s nocturnal life by spending time out after dark!
By the use of strong spotlights you might get to see animals only active by night, like porcupines, aardwarks, serval cats and mongoose. Feel the excitement & the secrecy of the savannah by night! You travel by car together with a driver and a Maasai guide.
Balloon safari
If you have a dream of flying a balloon, Masai Mara is the place to do it!
Take off with the sun rise, feel the cool air of the morning. Fly over grass plains, solitary Balanite trees and water streams. Watch animals from above and be stunned by the beauty and vastness of the Mara. Touch ground in the middle of the savannah, enjoy a champagne breakfast in the wild...
