Delhi is a city of contrasts, from modern buildings and shopping centers, to traditional quarters in Old Delhi. There are many places that are worth visiting in Delhi. For example, a walk along the impressive Rajpath or a visit to Raj Gath situated on the bank of Yamuna. Gandhi was cremated here in 1948, and this is where you will find the Gandhi Memorial Museum.

Agra
Agra houses the worlds largest monument built for love. Many people travel to India only to see this magnificent edifice. The Taj Mahal was built by the great mogul Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife who died in labor - when giving birth to their 16th child - in 1653. Shah Jahan was planning to build his own sanctuary in black marble, a negative mirror of Taj Mahal, but he was imprisoned by his son before this work started. He spent the remaining years of his life under lock and key in Agra Fort, with only a view to his wife’s last resting place.

Jaipur
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is the first planned city in India. Jaipur is known as the pink city because the entire old city is painted pink - the color of hospitality. The city was first painted pink in honor of the Prince of Wales who visited it in 1876. Since then it is compulsory by law to keep the city pink. Maharaja Jai Singh built the old city of Jaipur in the beginning of the 18th century. Before this the formidable Amber fort housed generations of Maharajas.

Pushkar
Pushkar is one of the holiest Hindu places in India. This small town, at the edge of the desert, situated around a small lake, could have been taken from "Thousand and One Nights". Pilgrims from all over India come here to visit the only temple of Lord Brahma, the creator, and to have a purifying bath in the holy lake of Pushkar.

Jodhpur
The city of Jodhpur is dominated by the Mehnangarh fort. Many will describe this as the most formidable fort among the forts of Rajasthan. This impressive monument sits on top of the only hill in Jodhpur. The main entrance is marked by the indentations of canon balls. On the walls within you will find imprints of small hands. These are the handprints of the women on their way to “sati" - to be burned on their husband’s funeral pyre. The view from the ramparts where the cannons stand is fantastic, and you will then understand why Jodhpur has the name "the Blue City". In Jodhpur it is common to add indigo to the paint. Jodhpur is also called “the Sun City", as it is the city in India with most number of sunny days in a year.

Udaipur
Romantic Udaipur is also known as "Venezia of the east". The city is situated around a lake, and palaces and temples surround the lake. This part receives most rain in Rajasthan and the city includes many green areas. Udaipur is a center for performing arts, painting and handicraft.

Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is located in the heart of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is nothing but magic! This town used to have a strategic position on the camel route between India and Central-Asia, which brought wealth to this outpost. Jaisalmer goes under the name “the golden city". This name refers to the golden sandstone that the spectacular forts as well as the havelies are built of.
