A Different Safari Camp!

Basecamp Masai Mara is different from most other places in Africa due to our close cooperation with the Maasai. Our cultural and social commitment and the environmental work we do at the camp and in its surroundings all serve to offer you access to stimulating conversation, unanticipated experiences and true wisdom.

Basecamp is first and foremost a place to relax and explore, but it is also a meeting place where you can become involved at a far deeper level. Here, you are more than a guest.

When you arrive at Masai Mara and meet the colourful people, experience the incredible wildlife, the wide open savannah and the sound of a hundred thousand gnus on the move, you know in your heart that this is one of the most special places left on the planet.

Ecotourism

This is a place we, together with the Maasai, help to protect; through ecological operation -such as the use of dry toilets, recycling of waste., solar energy and similar methods -as well as through substantial support for important community projects.

Close to the Maasai People

Our Maasai friends are an unforgettable part of the Basecamp experience. Surrounded by wild animals, a walk through the bush in the company of a watchful Masai warrior offers a unique opportunity of getting close to nature.

Different projects involving local collaboration may be studied: see our tree plantation, water supplies, and school activities. You may also visit a Masai home.
