Classic African Safari
Basecamp Classic to Masai Mara, Amboseli & Serengeti

2 nights Basecamp, 1 night Dorobo bushcamp, 2 nights Amboseli Kenya,
1 night Lake Manyara Tanzania, 4 nights Serengeti Tanzania, by road

A classic safari, through two ecosystems with the highest density of wild mammals in the world and the extraordinary wildebeest migration, meet unique features in Tanzania with the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest volcano crater in the world, considered a world wonder with its abundant wildlife and the findings of modern man in the Olduvai Gorge.

Day itinerary as follows:

Day 1
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. Transfer to Basecamp Travel office for breakfast. Departure by road to Masai Mara. Arrive at Basecamp – a small private tented camp beautifully located by the Talek river at the very edge of the savannah. Enjoy lunch in the open air restaurant, relax on your tent terrace, prepare for a wildlife adventure! Afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara game reserve. Look for  lions, elephants and giraffes. Return to camp before sunset, sit by the campfire and listen to the night sounds of the savannah.

Dinner & overnight Basecamp.

Day 2
Morning tea or coffee, depart Basecamp for a half day game drive, choose a beautiful spot for your  picknic breakfast, maybe by the hippo pools or under a Balanite tree. Return to camp in time for lunch. Siesta and prepare for a walking safari adventure and a night in the bush. Departure by car to Dorobo bushcamp and the starting point of the walk. Breifing by the guides concerning safety and how the walk will be performed. A two hur walking safari, sundowner on route. Reach Dorobo bushcamp before sunset.

Dinner & overnight in the bush.

Day 3
Morning tea or coffee, depart for an early morning walking safari, watch the savannah waking up, follow tracks of lions, spot a Martial eagle and hunt for giraffes with your camera. Return to Dorobo bushcamp for a full breakfast. Departure Dorobo bushcamp by car, arrive at Basecamp before lunch, take a guided camp walk or visit a traditional Maasai village.

Afternoon game drive, return to camp before sunset, dinner & overnight Basecamp.

Day 4
Early departure from Basecamp with picknic breakfast, game drives on route through the reserve. Continue to Amboseli National Park, home of big herds of elephants and the scenic Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa 6000 m.a.s.l. Game drive on route to the lodge. Dinner & overnight Amboseli.

Day 5
Morning tea or coffee, early morning game drive in Amboseli National Park, return to lodge in time for breakfast. Realx by the pool during midday, enjoy lunch and proceed out in the afternoon for another game drive. Diner & overnight Amboseli

Day 6
Morning tea or coffee, early morning game drive and back for a full breakfast. Departure after breakfast to Namanga border and enter into Tanzania. Here you will be met and greeted by our representative in Tanzania. Transfer to Arusha. You arrive at the lodge for lunch. Depart for an afternoon game drive in the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park, here you might get to see the tree climbing lions.. Dinner & overnight Lake Manyara.

Day 7
Breakfast and depart for a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, enjoy a picknic lunch and proceed towards the great Serengeti. Serengeti is ten times bigger than the Masai Mara game reserve, both are part of the same ecosystem and famous for the yearly  wildebeest migration. Zebras, wildebeests and Thomson’s gazelles moving together through the seas of grass ranks as the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. Reach the lodge before sunset. Dinner & overnight Serengeti.

Day 8
Spend a full day in the Serengeti National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. Dinner & overnight Serengeti

Day 9
Morning coffe or tea, early morning game drive in Serengeti. Breakfast at the lodge and depart for a visit at the Olduvai Gorge, known for  the World’s earliest findings of modern man. Proceed to the Ngorongoro Crater – one of the biggest volcano craters in the world and is considered a wonder due to the abundant wildlife that is captured inside it. Dinner & overnight Ngorongoro.

Day 10
Breakfast, and a full day out in the spectacular Ngorongoro crater with picknic lunches. Return to lodge late in the afternoon. Dinner & overnight Ngorongoro.

Day 11
Breakfast and transfer to Arusha to catch the afternoon flight to Nairobi, alternatively extend the trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

  • Payments:
    most lodges take US dollars, Kenyan or Tanzanian shillings or crads. For your own personal shopen good to have the local currency though.

    Basecamp take Ksh, Us dollars, travellers’s cheques, VISA and MasterCard (NB! 6% additon on credit cards). We advice you to bring Kenyan shillings for shopping & tipping etc.

    Radio communication and satellite phone for safety when in the bush walking and a stand-by car, first aid kit provided for

    Walking safari:
    minimum 18 years of age or 15 of age when accompanied by parents

    Note: Talek school & The Maasai Arts & Crafts not open on Saturdays and Sundays, check with reception if need to change programme!
