Day itinerary as follows:
Day 1
Arrive at JKIA, transfer to Basecamp Travel office for breakfast. Departure by am flight to the Masai Mara. Here you will be greeted by your tour guide driver and taken on a short game drive on route to Basecamp. Arrive at Basecamp for lunch, welcome briefing by management and staff. Afternoon game drive, and magic moments out in the grass savannah or maybe along the beautifully meandering Talek River. Return to camp before sunset, sit around the campfire, hear the sounds of he night. Dinner & overnight Basecamp.
Day 2
Have your morning tea or coffee in the dining or by your tent. Go for an early morning game drive and watch the savannah waking up. Return to camp for a full breakfast, relax by your tent, read a book on the veranda or watch animals from the viewing tower. Have lunch in the open air restaurant, treat yourself with a siesta and prepare for another game drive in the afternoon. Sundowners by the campfire, story telling by the Maasai. Dinner and overnight Basecamp.
Day 3
Go for a half day game drive, see new areas of the vast Masai Mara. Head for Musiara swamp and its abundant birdlife in the north or towards the Mara River and set foot in Tanzania. Have your picknic breakfast under a Balanite tree, return to camp in time for lunch. Take a guided campwalk, learn more about sustainable tourism in practice and meet the women doing beadwork at the Maasai Arts & Crafts trainingcentre. Afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight Basecamp.
Day 4
Early morning game drive, return to camp in time for breakfast.
Enjoy a guided tour on foot to Talek, the neighbouring Maasai community. Visit the local school, the health dispensary and the treeplantations. Through this excursion you will discover more about the neighbourhood and the co-operation with Basecamp Masai Mara and the Talek community. You will also be given an opportunity to sign up for sponsorship to any of our community based projects. Treeplanting activities also offered.
Have lunch and prepare for a true bush adventure. Departure to bushcamp in the afternoon. Enjoy a walking safari to Dorobo bushcamp. Experience another dimension of being on safari! Walking the savannah gives you a stronger feeling of being present, of being in your spirits. Hunt for elephants and giraffes, with your camera.
Feel the strong scent of the cocktail ant, spot a Martial eagle, follow tracks of lions and hyenas, embrace the vibrating savannah together with the Maasai. Sundowners around the campfire, chat with the Maasai and enjoy the moment…
Dinner and overnight Dorobo bushcamp.
Day 5
Early morning walking safari, feel the cool air of the morning. Learn how to interpret tracks and subtle signs of the wildlife. Return to Dorobo bushcamp in time for a well deserved breakfast. Transfer to Basecamp for lunch. Afternoon game drive, dinner and overnight Basecamp.
Day 6
Breakfast, and departure Basecamp. Game drive on route to Olkiombo airstrip for the morning flight to Nairobi. Arrive in Nairobi for lunch. Proceed to connecting flights and new adventures on Lamu or on Mount Kenya.

Radio communication and satellite phone for safety when in the bush walking and a stand-by car, first aid kit provided for
Personal equipment
Walking safari: minimum 18 years of age or 15 of age when accompanied by parents
Payments: Basecamp take Ksh, Us dollars, travellers’s cheques, VISA and MasterCard (NB! 6% additon on credit cards).
We advice you to bring Kenyan shillings for shopping etc.
Note: The Maasai Arts & Crafts not open on Thursdays and Sundays, Talek school not open on Saturdays and Sundays - check with reception if need to change programme!
